RVA’s Newest Hot Spot
Forget polyester shirts with bowling league embroidery, bright fluorescent lighting, and waiting your turn seated on cheap plastic chairs – River City Roll, a strikingly fun experience, is a re-imagined retro hot spot for dining, fun with friends, and a great time knocking down pins. A luxury atmosphere meets hours of rolling fun at Richmond latest hot spot.
River City Roll Atmosphere
Instead of flashing neon lights, projection TVs, and echoing clanks and clatters, River City Roll combines the feel of a relaxing pub with the surprisingly challenging game of ten-pin bowling. Brown brick outlines the backdrop of the lanes, and a lower ceiling gives this small alley a more cozy feel. When you’re looking for a great place for bowling in Richmond VA, River City Roll is where the cool kids hang out.
“Mind blowing RVA has not had the pleasure of experiencing a beautiful, spacious, cutting edge collective like RCR until now. Our growing, historical city has been hungry for a venue like this for decades. Excited to see more thriving additions likes these across the wonderfully repurposed Scott’s Addition area. Job well done team”
Relax on over sized leather couches situated at each lane and enjoy sharing elevated pub fare – including charred asparagus, pulled pork tacos, and shrimp ceviche. No stale nachos with cheese sauce here – the food at River City Roll could easily be served at one our favorite rooftop bars. Fresh ingredients, local favorites like Chesapeake Bay oysters and fried chicken, and elegantly presented plates make dining and bowling a perfect option for date night or fun with a group.
The full-service bar at River City Roll features craft brew drafts, signature cocktails with freshly squeezed juices and top-shelf spirits, and a selection of wines by the glass to complement each delicious dish on the menu. You won’t go thirsty while you spare and strike, either. River City is newly opened, but already receiving rave reviews for the attentive service at the lanes.
Bowling in a group is a great time, but if you’re ready to go all-out, River City Roll offers a private meeting room for parties, corporate team building activities, or even wedding rehearsal dinners. Rent out the whole space for a private event or company party and enjoy the personalized attention, delicious food, and hours of fun that your hard-working team deserves. While River City Roll offers parties for birthday boys and girls of all ages, it is an over-21 only establishment after 5 pm.
While you wait for a lane, or if you just need a break from bowling, venture out on the outdoor patio to enjoy a larger meal from the dinner menu. Artisan recipe pizzas, fired in a brick oven to order, are delicious to share – or enjoy a melt-in-your-mouth Waygu cheeseburger.
“We came here to bowl but ended up staying late into the night for the great music, fun atmosphere, and gorgeous Richmond sunset, viewed from the patio seating”.
Entertainment & Service
This historic city has long needed an elevated place to play and mingle, and River City Roll offers bowling in Richmond VA that’s right up our alley. Beautiful and spacious, RCR is a perfect addition to the growing Scott’s Addition area. This space has been artfully restored and resonates with the rich history our city is known for. Rough, authentic original brick, exposed ceilings, and perfectly lacquered parquet game zones make RCR unique and fresh. The sound system is clear, providing plenty of cutting-edge new music mixed with throwback favorites to help cover the noise of pins falling. Our experience was a mix of the best that a bowling alley, nightclub, and fun local gastropub had to offer.
On-point service has made RCR one of the most popular new establishments in the Richmond area. Each lane is provided with personal attention, with food and drinks delivered quickly and served piping hot – or refreshingly cold. We were able to keep most of our attention on a close game without feeling hungry or thirsty. Every need was met with a smile, and even a couple of expert pointers to achieve a higher score or knock over that hard-to-reach pin.
Our first night at River City Roll certainly won’t be the last. We come hungry, ready to eat a delicious meal before lining up our pins and donning the retro bowling shoes. (That’s the only commonality between RCR and your parent’s alley, but funky shoes add to the experience). Weekends are hopping, and with the 21-and-over requirement after 5 pm, the RCR is a great place for a girls night, meeting new people, or enjoying a relaxing adult date night.
Let the good times roll at the newest addition to the Richmond entertainment scene. River City Roll isn’t just a bowling alley – it’s a totally immersive experience, with the ambiance and amusement that Richmond residents have been craving. Get your spin on – maybe we’ll see you down here!
